2017: full release.

By Jereff / Vulgat.

Golden Krone Hotel reached its full release in October 2017. It builds a compact traditional roguelike around a wonderfully concrete inconvenience: sunlight is deadly to vampires, and the player must spend time as both a human and a vampire.

The same room therefore changes meaning with the character’s condition and the available light. A route that was safe a moment ago may become dangerous. An enemy’s strength may be answered by changing the circumstances rather than increasing damage.

Human and vampire forms have different capabilities. The vampire can see in darkness and recover through blood, while sunlight and water create serious vulnerabilities. The human uses weapons and magic but is physically frailer.

Its place in the archive is as a focused later design. It gets considerable tactical variety from one strong relationship among the character, the enemies and the building. The hotel is not merely scenery around a combat system. Its windows and dark spaces are part of the fight.

The game’s graphical presentation remains tied to turns and position. Every step can be considered before it is taken.
