north of the thaw
I’m making a dark fantasy game called Wintercry.
It begins at the Old Hack, with flat ale, hard rain and a stranger offering work. He wants a manuscript recovered from Duul-Asdaat, a castle in the frozen north. The pay is good because everyone knows the country is cursed.

The wanderer can be a warrior, mage or bard. That says what they know how to do. A separate choice says what they are running from: a village burned, a sister killed, or a bargain made with something in a well.
I like the distance between those choices. Skill is useful on the road. Shame is what follows you there.
